Looking For Marty McFly at Jim's Retro Diner

You Can't Miss The Sign
If you were born between the eighties and early nineties then your childhood was awesome! This is because you are able to experience a lot of things that are not really around these days.
Like playing music recorded in a casette tape, listening to cool, comprehensible and understandable songs as compared to todays song lyrics which when scrutinised closely does not give any meaning at all.

Also if you are an eighties kid you would remember watching great movies like star wars, rocky, rambo, back to the future, among others. Who could forget John Rambo or even Marty Mcfly? Even today i see to it that i watch any of those movies when shown via cable tv. One particular movie that i really watch is Back to the Future, because the movie, though classified under sci-fi, is thought provoking and entertaining at the same time. What stuck to my mind is how often the typical american diner is shown in the movie and how it evolved from the sixties setup to year 2020 (give or take).

Taken Back in Time

I felt that i was in a Back To The Future Scene when i attended a night out with my friends. We had our evening meal at one of Baguio City's newest diner, Jim's Retro Diner. Jim's retro diner is a simple and cozy diner that is designed to exude a sixties feel, from the framed decorations on the wall to the cool sixties music.

Family menu

Looking at the menu and after asking some questions i found out that the menu at jim's retro diner was designed for the Family, the owner even named some of their dishes after their parents and children. They serve large servings at Jim's retro diner, which is patterned after the servings of a regular american diner like in Back to the Future. It was not my first time at Jim's Retro diner, during my first visit i was with my Family and i was amazed with their jumbo sized burger which could feed four persons, that is if they wont ask for a second serving. They also have a tower burger that looks like every common ingredients in a hamburger and its variation was thrown into one big heap.

On that night however we got to sample their pizza. I like how their four cheese pizza gives you a bite into the cheese. The parmesan were spread generously that you can feel the crumbles in your mouth as you bite into that slice of cheese heaven. I have tasted the four cheese pizza of pizza hut and don henricos, jim's four cheese is better.

I also got to sample their pizza alfredo, the toppings were not as many as i've expected. The problem with me is that i already have a benchmark when it comes to pizza. The flavor is good however the toppings would not quite distinguish itself from the other brand's pizza of similar make. But then again shouldn't flavors be the same? I guess what i am saying is yes its pizza alfredo but what makes it unique, and distiguishable with the other brands, that is what might be missing. If you look at their line of burger what makes it unique from other burgers are the ingredients and the amount of work they put into the making of the burger. Their giant burger buns are unique since they bake their own buns because there are no suppliers for such bun size so they have to acquire their own bread mold for that purpose only.

Meals For the Hungry

If you are really hungry and you want a complete meal the Virginia's Summer Platter sounds good. It is a meal comprised of fried chicken, 2 slices of hawaiian pizza, spaghetti pesto, vegetable salad and fries. Their fries are made from authentic Benguet potatoes and were not freeze dried, they are cooked fresh. I was not abe to sample everything on that platter i just tasted the fries and salad...so i was hoping you guys would also share your food experience at Jims Retro Diner....

Before we left the place there is still one question lingering in my mind...where is Marty Mcfly?

Would you like to find Marty McFly? Go to Baguio City, Session Road at La Azotea building facing the road level entrance look to your left you wont miss it.
